mouseevent - Can it be assumed that mouse coordinates are non-noisy?

If I want to detect when the user hasn't moved the mouse for a few seconds, is it enough to simply compare the most recent mouse cursor coordinates exactly, or does one have to factor in that there may be noise?

In my experience mouse coordinates typically do not fluctuate while the mouse is not moving. But presumably some mice could have such noise.

What's the experience of the community. Are mice ever noisy?

(I'll probably be defensive and just allow for some noise, but I'm still curious about the topic)
