spring boot - If we have setValidateAfterInactivity() defined, do we still need to use idle connection monitor thread?

Question

In PoolingHttpClientConnectionManager, we have define setValidateAfterInactivity() defined, do we still need to use idle connection monitor thread and use these two methods closeExpiredConnections(); closeIdleConnections(1000, TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS) to close the idle or stale connections?

Or

setValidateAfterInactivity() will automatically validates (detects, validate or close) the idle or stale connections? Actually i am not able to understand the real meaning of validate for this method.
