python 3.x - trying to updage pip on raspi

Question

SO i have had some problems updating/installing Python 3.8, that's now installed and when i type

python -V

tells me i have version 3.8

    pip -V
pip 20.3.4 from /home/pi/.local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/pip (python 2.7)

So when i try to pip install wxpython it tells me DEPRECATION: Python 2.7 reached the end of its life..etc I have tried sudo apt-get update followed by sudo apt-get upgrade

what can i do to fix this?

I am new to this and am trying to install python and pip to run this Battery Management System on my raspi.
