javascript - Forgiving Mouseenter on SVG

I want a path that fires a hovered event when hovering over with the mouse. In code I have a svg path like this:

<g [id]="id">
    <path
      (mouseleave)="setHovered(false)"
      (mouseenter)="setHovered()"
    ></path>
  </g>

and the setHovered() works as expected. But it's really tough to get the mouse over the path for a mouseenter, as this seems to be just a minimum size. Is there an option to handle mouseenter more forgiving? For instance that it already fires 10px around the path?
