ssh - RCurl ftpUpload for sftp

Question

I am trying to upload files to a key-protexted sftp server using RCurl::ftpUpload

Here is my command: RCurl::ftpUpload(what = "~/documents/site/_site/index.html",

•              to = "sftp://root@206.81.31.173/var/www/html/",
  

•       verbose = TRUE,
  

•       .opts = list(
  

•         ssh.private.keyfile = "id_rsa", 
  

•         ssh.public.keyfile = "ida_rsa.pub"
  

•       ) 
  

• )

I get the following error:

Error in function (type, msg, asError = TRUE) : Could not load public key file

I generated new keys, but have not been able to figure out what the problem is.

any ideas?
