I have used AutoFeat on some of my regression projects. It increase both accuracy and r2 score of the algorithms I ran. I used the feature selector component of AutoFeat to select the most important features after the automatic engineering of the features by the model.

I haven't had issue using it. It enhances all the evaluation metrics for me so far.
