opacity - Can't make some windows transparent

Question

I've got some code that makes windows transparent, but some won't, such as Handbrake (video conversion app). How can I make those windows transparent? Here's my code:

hWnd=FindWindow(0,"Handbrake")
SetWindowLongPtr(hWnd,GWL_EXSTYLE,GetWindowLongPtr(hWnd,GWL_EXSTYLE)|WS_EX_LAYERED)
SetLayeredWindowAttributes(hWnd,0,percent,LWA_ALPHA)

So simple, yet it doesn't work on Handbrake windows. Note that Handbrake is NOT run as elevated; it has the same rights as my exe. But even I run my exe elevated as a test, it still doesn't make Handbrake transparent.
