finance - How to create a program that gives you the present value of investment based on the amount and date it was invested

I am a new coder who just started learning python a few weeks ago, and thought it would be a fun project to create a program that spits out the present value of a certain investment. Ex. using the S&P500 ETF and recording the price it was every day at open, so I can pick a random date in the past 10 years with "x" amount invested, and it will tell me what it would now be worth if I had invested "x" at that date.
