I'm developing software for a custom board that has Qi (wireless charging protocol) transmitter hardware.
The API of this piece of hardware has fields ostensibly meant to identify what (presumably phone) is on the receiving end of the Qi protocol.
The issue is, I need to know in advance whether I'll be able to tell what sort of phone is charging.
I don't have working hardware at the moment nor do I have time and budget to just try with every relevant phone.
The internet is not volunteering this information either.
The fact that this is a possibility on my Qi charger doesn't actually guarantee that phone manufacturers actually send meaningful data to fill those fields.
If yes, then can this information can be used to figure out whether a given individual phone has been put on the charger before?
The idea is to change the behavior of the charging station depending on whether a "guest" phone is charging or a "main user" phone is charging.
It doesn't need to be very secure.
