location - Why does nginx not work with my provided root?

Question

I'm just configuring nginx but can't solve why root doesn't work, first I tried to use php, after failure I thought to test if html works but no, only the main page of nginx opens and nothing else. nginx.conf:

I've tried to change the root to another folder but as I remember that didn't work too, I tried reading other forums for answers, but nothing similar was posted there.
