html - Flask parameters not being evaluated within url_for

Question

I want to evaluate the date-input variable and pass that in as my url_for parameter but I cannot seem to be able to evaluate the date-input variable. I think I am having an issue since there are so many nested " and ' so when I run this code the date info that is passed in is the string "#date-input" instead of the value of that id.

I am quite new to flask and haven't worked a lot in HTML so any help would be greatly appreciated!
