python - How do I download files from the web using the requests module?

Question

I'm trying to download a webpage data to samplefile.txt on my hard drive using the following code:

import requests 
res = requests.get('http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/1112/pg1112.txt')
res.raise_for_status()
playFile = open('samplefile.txt', 'wb')
for chunk in res.iter_content(100000):
    playFile.write(chunk)

playFile.close()

The code runs without errors but nothing changes in samplefile.txt. How do I fix this? Thanks
