Handle Server IP on Apache

I have an Apache server running on a host. As usual, I can access my website using the server IP. In order to fix this and also apply the SSL encryption, I thought about writing a RewriteRule that redirects that request to the server IP to https://example.com. Now I have a couple of questions related to this, first is how the RewriteRule should be? I have currently tried with this but doesn't seem to work:

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^{{my_server_ip}}$
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://example.com/$1 [L,R=301]

And my second question is how safe would it to redirect these IP queries to my website instead of just blocking them. What should I do and between these two options and also some code to guide me will be great.
