Try InvokeCommandAction a command instead of using CallMethodAction:

<i:Interaction.Triggers>
  <i:EventTrigger EventName="TextChanged">
    <i:InvokeCommandAction Command="{Binding TextChangedCommand}" 
        CommandParameter="{Binding ElementName=filterBox, Path=Text}"/>
  </i:EventTrigger>
</i:Interaction.Triggers>
